Have you managed not to scoff all the advent calendar chocolates yet? Well done!
For the last few years I’ve sent e-cards at Christmas, but this year is different (#understatement). I’m digitaled-out and craving the feel of paper and hand writing. When you can’t see or hug your nearest and dearest I do think touchable handwriting is the next best thing. Anyway it’s rekindled my long standing love affair with stationery.
See below for my pick of the best Christmas cards this year, all by small and mighty, Black owned businesses producing ethically made, artistan products.
TROPICAL CHRISTMAS CARDS BY TIHARA SMITH
Sadly I’m not getting my usual tropical travels so these cards are the closest I’ll be getting to a palm tree. Cheerful, Christmas cards with a colourful, Caribbean twist.
The eco-friendly cards and envelopes are made from FSC certified recyclable paper and in packaging that can be composted.
Calligraphy Christmas Baubles Card by Studio Oudizo

I like the non traditional, abstract look of these christmas trees plus it features my favourite colours so what’s not to feel festive about.
ANKARA PRINT CHRISTMAS CARD BY AFROTOUCH DESIGN
I’ve been a customer for years so I was thrilled to hear that Afrotouch has recently become the first Black owned card company to be stocked in Waterstone’s
Beautiful cards finished with African wax print, which always puts a smile on my face. Perfect for spreading a special touch to festive joy.
IRIE CHRISTMAS AND BRUK POCKET DAY CARD BY BROWN SKIN DARK LIPS
A cheeky little card of festive cheer inspired by the reggae version of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” by the late great Jacob “Killer” Miller. Fess up who doesn’t have bruk pocket at this time of year?! I think I’ll be writing these accompanied by a shot of rum.
The card has a flash of gold and envelope seal sticker for a little extra extravagant touch.
