Wonderlusting

Miami, hip hotel capital of the world, does glam hotels in spades. I handled the UK PR for the Greater Miami CVB for nearly a decade so have seen my fair share of Miami hotel rooms. The words glam and hostels however don’t go quite so hand in hand. The Freehand, a new hostel, due to open in November 2012, looks like a potential gamechanger.  Located Mid Beach, it’s being designed by Roman & Williams, the award-winning team behind New York’s The Standard and Ace Hotel and will have a vegetable garden, pool, art classes, restaurant and a mix of dorms and private rooms.

Pretty fancy huh? When I checked rates were from $32 (+13% tax) per person per night in a shared room for late November. It’s hoping to be open for Art Basel (6 – 9 December) when Miami hotel rates go through the roof – my tip is to book book book now!
