Yes I seem to be turning into the weird chocolate girl. Can’t help myself, I see unusual things and get all excited and want to taste. It turns out that here in the UK we’ve been fobbed off with chunky Kit Kat in peanut butter and mint as in Japan they have had up to 200 flavours! Every year a limited edition of sweet, savoury and intriguing flavours are released exclusively in addition to flavours only available in a specific region inspired by local produce. They’ve had everything from grilled corn, miso, wine, lemon vinegar, watermelon, soy sauce even camembert cheese. Apparently kit kats are popular in Japan because they sound like “kitto katsu” which roughly translates to “I hope you will win” so it has become customary to give the bars to students as good luck charms before exams.
Well we can finally get a bit of that flavour action here. I recently bought the four flavours below from the Japan Centre:

To be honest I’m not a fan of white chocolate so won’t be rushing to try any of these again but I’m glad I satisfied my curiosity.
Available online only from the Japan Centre here, £1.30 each or £4.95 for a set of four.
