Lewisham was recently declared the least peaceful place in the whole of the UK with a homicide rate nearly twice the national average in 2012. When I recently asked on twitter for recommendations for a nice coffee shop in Lewisham, I got plenty of responses of the “flee now” variety and not one single positive comment!
Poor Lewisham, I don’t think it is the armpit of the world and am determined to find out what delights are hidden there. Recently I noticed this beautiful building….admittedly it is next to a Nando’s but let’s move along. It is the London Sivan Kovil, a Hindu temple and the first of its kind in Europe to be built as a traditional Lord Shiva temple.
See Lewisham can do peace and beauty too!
