So you know how I feel about Shrimpy’s soft shell crab burger right? It was love at first bite (read about it here). Well Shrimpy’s have given their burger a makeover. Out with the gherkin, avocado and spicy sauce, in with the bacon, provolone and rouille.
Firstly can we just take a moment to behold the brioche bun. Check out those almost croissanty layers. Then the cheese. Melting cheese and rouille (think spicy saffrony mayo). Try not to salivate. *Homer Simpson style dribbling*

I don’t eat meat so had the burger without the bacon. Next time I’ll ask for a slice of tomato as delish as it was, I do think something salty or acidic is required to cut through the creaminess of the Provolone and rouille sauce.
We were there for Sunday Lunch so not starting off with cocktails would have been rude non?

For sides, we ordered a fresh green salad with capers which was simple and good and humita (corn) that wasn’t offensive but a bit meh.

And then for dessert:

The passionfruit and fennel seed mess was an unexpected flavour combination (to me) that I was intrigued by. It worked perfectly – light, zingy and palate cleansing at the end of the meal.

Also worth noting that my experience of service was much improved from my previous visit.
Shrimpy’s do an excellent deal of 3 courses for £17.50 if you eat there at certain times. Considering that the soft shell crab burger on its own is £13.50 that’s bargaintastic. For details check out www.shrimpys.co.uk
