What’s On in London: Pascale Marthine Tayou: BOOMERANG at Serpentine Sackler Gallery

It’s the last weekend to see ‘BOOMERANG’ the first London exhibition by Cameroonian artist Pascale Marthine Tayou at the Serpentine Sackler Gallery. The exhibition includes works made specifically for the Serpentine including paintings, sculptures and installations.

Mainly crafted from found and discarded materials, at first look, the work is fun and playful but take a closer look and all is not as sweet as it seems. Identity, colonialism and the disastrous environmental impact of global consumption are the main themes.

Be sure to pop in to the Zaha Hadid designed The Magazine restaurant attached to the gallery where there’s also an installation of Tayou’s sculptures.

Pascale MartineTayou (until Sunday 17 May 2015), SerpentineSackler Gallery, West Carriage Drive, London W2 2AR FREE admission www.serpentinegalleries.org
