Exciting beauty news – that most super of Supermodels, Iman, is launching a BB cream. The beauty legend’s company, Iman Cosmetics, will be offering six shades that match 35 skin tones of “women of colour”*. Interestingly the formulation is based on Ayurvedic principles. The new product, officially called, IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Crème SPF 15, will be available to pre-order online from 17 December 2012, in selected Walgreen from January 2013 and finally at beauty counters internationally in March 2013.
In their words:
IMAN Skin Tone Evener BB Crème SPF 15 addresses common skin concerns like hyperpigmentation (discoloration & uneven skin tone) and dehydration with botanicals, antioxidants, and vitamins. It is Paraben Free, Fragrance Free and Sensitivity tested for ALL skin types.
I haven’t really been sold on BB creams since so few brands have any in my colour (I can only think of Sleek?), even Bobbi Brown disappointingly ends at Medium. I’m also not sure if they really are completely different from tinted moisturiser. It’s great to have the choice though.
I’ll also admit I haven’t given Iman Cosmetics much of a glance in recent times as it’s hard to find but I salute any company offering options across a wider spectrum of shades us humans come in.
Here’s a video of Iman talking about the product:
*I really dislike the term “X of colour”. I understand how and why the term has come into use but that doesn’t make me like it any more. Mathematically speaking, the majority of women in the world are “of colour” so it is in fact the norm and should not need any qualification. If anything it should be “X of less colour” though that is nonsense too as everyone is a colour!
