Natural Beauty: Pai Royal Jasmine & May Chang Replenishing Body Oil Review

Pai skincare

Pai is a company whose philosophy I’m very much behind. It produces effective formulations, using certified organic and clean ingredients to minimise potential irritation. From botanics to the final bottle, Pai seems to be meticulous in the ingredients and processes it uses and has its own chemists – most companies outsource this role.

All the products are suitable for allergy-prone and sensitive skin and Pai commits to not using the following ingredients:

  • No alcohol which is often used as a preservative
  • No artificial fragrances
  • No beeswax – though natural, it can be pore blocking as it isn’t absorbed easily in to the skin
  • No Formaldehyde
  • No Sodium Lauryl Sulfate
  • No parabens
  • No petrochemicals
  • No Phthalates – the stuff that makes hairspray and nail varnish stick to you

I’ve been working my way through the Pai goodies I bought last year. The Pai Camellia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser in particular was one my favourite skincare discoveries last year. The latest item to be used up is the Royal Jasmine and May Chang Replenishing Body Oil.

Wonderlusting loves Pai labelling – ingredients in plain English and an expiry date

Pai says:

“Royal Jasmine & May Chang Replenishing Body Oil combines classic aromas with expert ingredients to transform dry, lacklustre skin.Rich in essential Omegas 3 & 6 and Vitamins A & E, the deeply nourishing formula repairs and regenerates skin, locking in moisture for long-lasting comfort.”

WONDERLUSTING SAYS: ROYAL JASMINE & MAY CHANG REPLENISHING BODY OIL REVIEW

PACKAGING

Thick slightly frosted glass bottle that feels substantial in hand. Be sure to store this oil in a cool place out of direct sunlight. Oil stored in clear glass and therefore exposed to sunlight has the potential to go rancid.
SMELL I’m not a big Jasmine fan and didn’t know what May Chang is (i now do thanks to Google God that it is a shrub with a spicy citrus aroma that is rotten used for its ability to promote a sense of calm). The oil scent was quite light overall though.
TEXTURE Quite thick, golden coloured oil that felt very rich and well blended. There are no artificial colours added, the deep colour comes from the ingredients with are bursting with Vitamin A/beta-carotene.
PERFORMANCE Designed for dry/dehydrated skin, my winter skin, which verges on crocodile, soaked this rich oil up. I used this straight after showering with slightly damp skin to lock in moisture and it absorbed quickly with no greasy feel afterwards. I used this over the winter when I was wearing lots of layers and it still kept my skin well moisturised and soothed. Patent Purple often mentions the tights test and it passed mine with flying colours.
LABELLING Gold star all round as always with Pai. Ingredients are listed in plain English and an expiry date is also shown.

ANY MOANS

None. The aroma didn’t really rock my world but it wasn’t unpleasant.
PRICE RRP £36, 100ml www.paiskincare.com
INGREDIENTS helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) seed oil*, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sewed almond) oil*, aleurites moluccana (kukui) seed oil*, prunus domestica (plum) seed oil*, fragaria ananassa (strawberry) seed oil, mauritia flexuosa (buriti) fruit oil*, litsea cubeba (may chang) oil*, jasminum grandiflorum (royal jasmine) extract*, prunus amygdalus amara (bitter almond) oil, citrus reticulata (mandarin) oil*, mixed tocopherols (natural vitamin e)
Wonderlusting verdict  As you can see from the ingredient list, this body oil is full of skin loving ingredients. There are no fillers or artificial colours added. An indulgent rich oil that nourishes and lavishes attention on dry skin.

Have you tried any Pai products?

  1. I only just discovered Pai (there’s a looooooong list of brands that I want to try), and I’m totally in love with their rosehip oil. No fillers, no basic oil, just the real thing. Amazing.

    A beautiful place here.
    Glad we’ve connected 🙂
