Lipstick Lust: Glo&Ray La Amo Lipstick Review and Swatches

It’s no secret I’m a lipstickaholic and always on the hunt for the next new lipstick fix. My latest discoveries are from Glo & Ray, a ‘those in the know know’ British colour makeup brand that’s all about celebrating colour and light. The company name is ‘Glo’ as in glow and ‘Ray’ as in a ray of light. They have recently relaunched their La Amo Creamy Matte and Shimmer lipsticks and I was sent two to put to the test.

Looking sharp Glo & Ray. Looking sharp. I like the clean lines and monochrome lacquer look casing with a modern font. In my whole 100+ lipstick collection I’ve only got one other lipstick in a red case so the La Amo Shimmer immediately stands out.

This is one swipe, which as you can see gives full opaque coverage.  Whoa, talk about packing a pigment punch. The colour you see in the tube is what you get on the skin. We’re talking serious pout power.

Swatches of Glo&Ray lipsticks

The Glo & Ray La Amo lipsticks glide on with no discernible taste or scent.  The formula is creamy and hydrating yet feels weightless on the lips. It is super comfortable to wear with no drying sensation at all. Though creamy, it didn’t smear when applied but you might want to use a lip liner to keep everything in place. I apply from the bullet but for precise definition, use a brush. Though not particularly long-lasting, it survives light bites and wears off evenly.
  • Passion 616, Glo & Ray La Amo Creamy Matte: Fuchsia lips are my jam. They just work with my skin and perk up my face with minimal other makeup. This is a really easy to wear lipstick that I’ve been swiping on most days this spring. As it wears off, it leaves a stain that requires serious elbow grease to remove.
  • Marigold 644, Glo & Ray La Amo Creamy Shimmer: a bold bright orange that screams sunshine.  Juicylicious.
The one thing I don’t get is the formula names. To me there isn’t much difference between the formulae. They are both creamy but I don’t find the La Amo Creamy Matte particularly matte, it has a little bit of lustre which dries down to a satin finish. And I don’t find the La Amo Creamy Shimmer particularly shimmery, it’s more a subtle shine.

The two colours work well together for a tropical ombre look
