Such an honour to again be on the judging panel for the ARClight Initiative which aims to help level up and shine the much deserved spotlight on a brilliant, Black-owned beauty brand. It was such a tough choice with some stunning entries and I loved chatting with all the inspirational finalists. But one brand had to be chosen. Drum roll please, time to announce this year’s recipient………..Roshanne Dorsett, founder of The Glowcery.

“I’m delighted to be ARClight’s second recipient and to work with Abi and the team in the next chapter in my business journey”
Empowering Black-Owned Skincare Brands
In case you missed it, the ARClight initiative was launched in 2020 by Abi Cleeve, Ultrasun UK and skinSense founder, with the aim of boosting an indie, Black-owned skincare brand with business support they’ve selected.
Roshanne and The Glowcery truly shone with the consciously crafted, mouth-watering collection of natural skincare. So much achieved already it’s no surprise they’ve been bringing awards home left, right and centre!
The Glowcery Wins ARClight 2023

The Glowcery’s juicy packaging represents the fruits, plants, and superfoods found in each product. This vegan, cruelty-free, and all-natural brand takes sustainability seriously by using recyclable materials and offering refill options. All music to my ears.
I had the privilege of selecting the Arclight recipient alongside Abi, a successful entrepreneur and all-round skincare biz whiz who can often be spotted on QVC, and digital trailblazer Ronke Adeyemi, founder of Brown Beauty Talk. Here’s what they had to say:
Ronke Adeyemi: “It was a real pleasure to take part in ARClight for another year. The entries were all a high calibre, and all of the women showed a lot of passion for their brand and the skincare industry. To me The Glowcery and their innovative style and brand really stood out. Roshanne has used her personal story and turned it into a business with such potential. I am really looking forward to seeing how she expands her empire”.
Abi Cleeve: “Roshanne has created a sustainable, natural beauty brand infused with expertise, ingredients that deliver and that are joyful to use. She is an incredible beauty founder with a brand that already has a loyal following both customer and media facing. The team and I are excited to work with her over the next year”.
Abi and her team will be working with Roshanne to deliver the following:
- Distribution and warehousing advice/assistance
- Marketing & PR quarterly advice and support sessions
- Retail strategy support from Abi Cleeve, Founder Ultrasun UK and skinSense
ARClight promises to be the next exciting chapter in The Glowcery’s journey, and I can’t wait to see what they cook up!
