The recent trend has been for fashion houses to launch makeup collections (still keeping an eye out for that Christian Louboutin range) but it seems makeup artists are striking back. After last year’s successful launch by Charlotte Tilbury, the latest makeup maestro to create an eponymous cosmetics collection is Troy Surratt. Surratt launched in the USA last October and I’ve been feverishly stalking its social media channels for news of when it was heading to our shores. Well it’s now here exclusively at Liberty.
Troy Surratt is an acclaimed makeup artist who was mentored by the legendary Kevyn Aucoin. He launched Tarte Cosmetics and was previously Global Makeup artist at Maybelline so knows his stuff. His clients have included Janet Jackson, Mary J Blige, Adele (he’s responsible for that epic cat eye), Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron and Anjelica Houston to name a few. The range has been inspired by his love of the quality of Japanese makeup.
I headed down pronto to give Surratt a peek and loving what I saw.

Surratt beauty. DIY customisable palettes for powder products
The packaging is all sleek, chic, clean lines with all the powder products sold individually with customisable palettes. The formulations of the blusher and eyeshadows are exquisitely silky. Stationery lover that I am the Autographique, a calligraphy style eyeliner pen looks divine – I just WANT WANT WANT but I will be boring/sensible and test it properly before any purchase decisions are made.

Surratt – I have my eye on the eyeliner and lip glosses
It looks like one of these lip glosses will ease the pain of my ongoing despair that my beloved Nars Chandernagor lip stain was discontinued. There are eight concealers for a variety of skin tones though they’re not quite a full spectrum – the darkest shade just about works for me. Some foundations are being worked on for launch next year.

Surratt beauty. The blusher ‘Duchesse’ was created for Adele
I shall be back for a proper play/drool and purchase. More info at http://www.surrattbeauty.com
I am loving the look of this range – I had a play with some of the colours on Thursday and I was impressed. A great addition to Libertys Beauty Hall
It reminds me a teeny bit of elements of Nars. Love the formulas and packaging – Liberty’s beauty buying team are on fire!
