I’ve previously shared my frustrations about the limited options available from many natural and organic beauty brands as far as complexion products for darker skinned green beauties go. I’m currently on a mission to find the best brands offering an inclusive range of foundations and concealers.
As mentioned before, I certainly do not expect every single company to have a colour that matches everyone. However, in 2015, I do expect brands to offer a spectrum that doesn’t stop at 50 shades of beige. Here are four companies I’ve found that have options whether you’re a beauty with skin like Nicole Kidman or Lupita Nyong’o. I don’t know yet if any of these companies have a match for me but it’s really lovely not to immediately feel excluded, which sadly is all too often how i feel, when I see that a company doesn’t offer any shades beyond beige.
Alima Pure offers 61 shades of their Satin Matte mineral powder foundation – yes 61! The most extensive foundation shade range that I’ve ever seen from any brand, natural or not. The products are made with high-grade minerals without preservatives, parabens, or dyes. They also do great silky-smooth eyeshadows in a variety of gorgeous colours which I’ve featured here. www.alimapure.com
I spotted the Jane Iredale stand on my flying visit to the Professional Beauty show last month and was drawn by the array of colours. They offer an extensive range of complexion products in different formulas including liquid, BB creams, mineral powder, tinted moisturizer and concealer. Minerals are the basis for the range with no talc, chemical preservatives, chemical dyes, perfume or alcohol used in any of the formulas www.janeiredale.com
Premae is a British allergen-free skincare brand made without animal products, nuts, soy, wheat, gluten as well as parabens and petrochemicals. They’ve recently launched the world’s first mango butter based foundation, with claims of anti-ageing properties that make it so pure you can sleep in it! The MM (mattifying mousse ) to powder foundation is available in 15 shades, named after different superfoods and grains www.premaeskincare.com
VAPOUR ORGANIC BEAUTY
Vapour Organic Beauty is an ecoluxe makeup range made sustainably with organic ingredients in luxurious formulations. When I saw their brochure, I kinda feel in love with Vapour. Look look a variety of skin tones PLUS a variety of undertones – HURRAH! I know many of those with fair skin that has yellow undertones also struggle to find options too. Vapour offers 12 shades of foundation in a liquid as well as stick formula. All products are made with at least 70% organic ingredients and the rest is mineral pigments and essential oils.www.vapourbeauty.com
Are they any other brands (available in the UK) you’d suggest I take a look at?
