Pinks Boutique’s Anti Ageing Deep Cleanse Melt Review

My dry skin absolutely adores balm cleansers and I reach for them daily, especially in the autumn and winter. However I am also a bit of a Goldilocks about them.  Often balms can be too waxy or too grainy or too fragranced or too…..well you get the idea. I’ve tried many cleansing balms but only a few have ticked all my boxes so I’m always on the hunt for more. Would the award-winning Deep Cleanse Melt, from Soil Association certified, organic spa brand, Pinks Boutique, be up to the challenge?

Pinks Boutique Anti Ageing Deep Cleanse Melt* Review

Remember to #lookforthelogo

Despite the company name, there’s nothing pink about the packaging. The balm is housed in an elegant amber jar, which like Miron glass helps protect the contents from UV rays. The label clearly states the amount of organic ingredients and the jar also has a best before date – top marks to Pinks Boutique – still so many companies fail to do this.

The balm ingredients are a roll call of antioxidants and skin nourishing plant oils and botanicals. Being Soil Association certified, this also means that aside from the organic goodness, there are no petrochemicals, parabens, artificial fragrances or other crap you don’t want on your skin. It is also vegan friendly with no animal products.

The Deep Cleanse Melt texture is smooth with no graininess so it does indeed melt as soon as it touches the skin so you can use for a quick face massage. The delicate fragrance from a mixture of flower oils is divine and immediately transports you to a relaxing place. Essential oils in balms can sometimes irritate my eyes but I’ve had no problems after using this multiple times. Rose, rose geranium , lavender, palmarosa and ylang ylang, are all expertly blended so not one jumps out. They all have calming and stress relief properties. Each time I used it made me “aaaaah”.  It’s a multiple sighs of contentment kinda balm.

The Deep Cleanse Melt is full of skin repairing ingredients though I don’t tend to look for anti ageing properties in a cleanser as they’re generally not on skin long enough.  This does feel super nourishing to the extent that I almost didn’t want to remove it. Used with the Pinks Boutique muslin cloth (also Soil Association certified), my dry skin was left looking smooth and glowing with no dryness or stripping sensation whatsoever. It’s like a mini facial each time you use it. Which I suppose is to be expected from a luxury spa focussed brand like Pinks.

One little discovery is that the cleanser also emulsifies and rinses off without leaving a waxy residue (make sure you to apply to dry skin with dry hands before rinsing), which meant I could use it in the morning as well without the cloth. Makeup removal including heavy duty mascara is a cinch, though this pot of ecoluxe is almost too good to waste on makeup!

There are a handful of balm cleansers I adore but this Pink Boutique goes to the top of the list due to the fact that apart from being a skin pampering pleasure to use, it is the only one I’ve found that washes off. There are three different Deep Cleansing Melts for different skin types including oily and combination available. Whatever your age if you’ve got dry skin like me, I’d go for the Anti Ageing.
