New A’kin Skincare Launches Including The Best Micellar Ever for Sensitive Skin

A’kin Launches New Products

Australian natural skincare brand, A’kin, has had a bit of a makeover – hello new wood grain pattern with metallic accents – as well as launching a slew of new products. The old favourites are still there, including theA’kin rosehip oil I love so much. New products include the Weightless Rosehip Oil, dry shampoo, two new eye treatments, a hydrating mist, day and night creams and a micellar water.

A’kin kindly sent a few products to try which I’ve been putting through their paces……

A’kin Cleansing Micellar Water Review, 150ml, £12.50

I generally avoid micellar waters as they always make my face sting, even the ones labelled for sensitive skin, so I was a little apprehensive about using this but was intrigued by the ingredients. I’m glad I did though as it’s turned out to be first micellar water I’ve EVER enjoyed using. In fact I’d go as far as to say I love it!

A'kin-cleansing-micellar-water-review

The A’kin Cleansing Micellar Water is a pH balanced (as all micellars should be) cleansing water infused with organic coconut water, green tea, cucumber and lavender. A’kin had me at coconut water. This is the first coconut water based micellar I’ve come across. Firstly the scent is amazing – it’s not cloying coconutty but has the lightness of fresh coconut water with incredibly refreshing cucumber and green tea leaping out  – I almost want to sip – Obviously don’t do that but do try my cucumberade recipe instead 😄

It doesn’t irritate my skin in the slightest or leave it feeling tight. Day to day, I use it as a first cleanse to quickly and gently take off makeup (except eye makeup which I use an oil for).  It’s also great when you’re travelling and don’t have easy access to running water (an aircraft-friendly 100ml bottle would be nice….) or those nights when you’re too knackered for a full routine – no excuse to go to bed in makeup!

A’kin Hydrating Mist Toner Review, 150ml, £12.50

For most of my skincare life, I’ve been a two-stepper – cleanse and moisturise no toner in my routine. Most toners available were alcohol filled implements of torture to my dry and sensitive skin so I just avoided. Thankfully there are now kinder options available and this year I’ve finally started using toners.

A'kin hydrating mist toner

The A’kin hydrating mist toner contains coconut water, green tea and chamomile, which are calming and soothing on the skin. The scent is very light and not quite as mouthwatering as the micellar. During the recent heat wave I kept this A’kin toner in the fridge and sprayed on whenever my face needed perking up and a hit of hydration. The pump perfectly spritzes out a super fine mist which is quickly absorbed so you can use over makeup with no Alice Cooperesque  moments.

A’kin Correcting Eye Gel Review, 15ml, £24.00

The A’kin Correcting Eye Gel contains white tea and Vitamin C designed to tighten and brighten the eye area. There’s also provitamin V5 and Sambucus (elderberry ) that helps improve blood flow to reduce dark circles and puffiness and cornflower, long used to treat eye issues.

What it does for me very well is keep my eye area feeling firm, soothed and hydrated. I haven’t noticed any reduction in dark circles or puffiness. As I’ve mentioned before with my allergies and insomnia, that would require a miracle. I’ve been using this in the morning as it sinks in quickly with no waiting time before makeup. It’s also great replenishment  reapplied during Hayfever Attack days when all the dabbing away at watery eyes makes my eye area dryer. I also keep this in the fridge for extra cooling action.

These trio of A’kin products have summer skincare written all over them. Ideal for warm weather, pop them in the fridge to satisfy your soothing, refreshing, hydrating skincare needs.

  2. Many years back I tried Akin toner which was ok but it contained phenoxyethanol so I didn’t buy it again after that. It’s great to see that their new toner doesn’t contain that preservative. I would definitely consider buying it.

  3. We use the same Bioderma cleanser! I am also extremely sensitive and allergic to everything and that one doesn’t agitate.
