Pai Camellia and Rose Cleanser
Pai Camellia and Rose Cleanser
Pai Camellia and Rose Cleanser ~ packaging has plain English list of ingredients and expiry date – excellent!

Earlier in the summer I mentioned that I had bought a selection of Pai skincare products. I love the clear, plain English labelling and ingredient listing of this certified organic skincare range. Specially formulated for sensitive and allergy-prone skin, I was looking forward to trialling the products.

I was a little nervous about trying a new cream cleanser after my last new cleanser experience but decided to give the Pai Camellia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser a go. I have got easily irritated skin and my eyes in particular are hyper sensitive, nearly everything makes them water and the wrong products can leave them looking attractively puffy and sore. My requirements for cleanser are therefore that it:

  • cleans thoroughly without total stripping
  • doesn’t leave my skin feeling drum tight
  • no uncomfortable sensation when the product is removed
  • doesn’t irritate my skin
  • takes off eye makeup properly without stinging or repeated rubbing required

The first time I used the Pai cleanser, I’ll admit that I was sceptical about the “will not irritate eyes” claim and after rubbing it over my eyes steeled myself for the usual sting. Absolutely nothing. The instructions state that to remove eye makeup you should pump one dose unto a cotton pad and gently wipe across eyes first before massaging the cleanser into damp skin and removing with a muslin cloth for the rest of the face. Between us, after a while I didn’t bother with the first step and just massaged the cleanser all over and my eyes were fine.

PAI SAYS WONDERLUSTING  SAYS
Pai Camellia & Rose Hydrating Cleansing Cream gently removes dirt, make-up and other impurities that build up on your skin throughout the day Did indeed gently remove dirt and makeup…not entirely sure what other impurities there might be though?!
Bursting with Omega 3 & Vitamins A, B & E, it replenishes the skin’s moisture barrier, leaving it soft and supple We don’t expect replenishing from a cleanser. Skin did not feel stripped at all so certainly hydrating
Suitable for all sensitive skin types, the Pai Hydrating Cleanser is detergent and alcohol-free, so won’t dry out or irritate your skin Didn’t dry or irritate my dry and sensitive skin
It is designed for use around the  eyes to remove even waterproof mascara Removed eye makeup effectively without any stinging

So all in all the Pai cleanser ticked all the boxes. In fact it was a pleasure to use. There is no added fragrance thankfully but ingredients including rose, geranium and lavender oils impart a lovely soothing “aaaah” smell. The texture is like whipped cream and it has good slip that doesn’t soak in when you rub it on so your fingers can easily glide across the face if you want to give yourself a massage.

Fittingly the name ‘Pai’ comes from the Maori word for goodness as the founder, Sarah Brown, has family roots in New Zealand.

Would I buy this product again? YES absolutely.

I’ve just spotted that as part of Organic September, Pai are offering a FREE Camellia & Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser & Muslin Cloth (RRP £17) when you spend £20. Valid until 30 September 2013 or until stocks run out, I strongly recommend that you run not walk to snap up this fab offer.
